The World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest (WCBCC) is the largest pork barbecue contest in the world. It’s a four-day event held in Memphis, TN, where teams from around the globe compete for the title of World Champion and a share of over $150,000 in prize money.
The WCBCC began in 1978, and the 2025 edition marks its 47th year. It’s a beloved Memphis tradition that attracts both seasoned barbecue pros and enthusiastic newcomers.
In 2025, the WCBCC will return to Liberty Park in Midtown Memphis. The park becomes a barbecue paradise, filled with smoke, sizzling grills, and mouthwatering aromas. The event takes place from May 14th to 17th, 2025.
The contest features championship pork categories such as Ribs, Shoulder, and Whole Hog, along with ancillary competitions like Hot Wings, Sauce, and “Anything But Pork.”
